Awesome place to work out but for the amount of money a membership is, the monthly hour changes should be posted better, and the online open to close times are far from right
The Galion Community Center-YMCA is one of the main “Hubs” of the Galion community and has a positive IMPACT on families and people of all ages. Affectionately known as “The Y” it improves the “Quality of Life” for many in the community. Life-long friendships and camaraderie are formed and maintained here. Visitors and members are always greeted by a friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff.
As with all YMCA’s this is a volunteer based organization and is recognized by community leaders as the “Gem of our Community.”
Through recent community support and contributions of well over $1 Million “The Y” received a complete “face-lift." The entire facility was painted, carpets replaced, flooring replaced, new heating and air-conditioning installed, new roofing and pool filters along with other improvements that do not meet the eye. The cardio vascular and fitness facility is second to none and offers many new cardio and weight resistance training equipment complete with new hard rubber flooring. It is the absolute cleanest and best-maintained fitness facility within many miles.
Everybody needs a "third place" in their life - that place besides home and work where you feel warm, welcome and comfortable. The Galion Y is that place for me. I have belonged to other Y's and gyms all over the country - from Indianapolis to Panama City Beach to Honolulu - but the Galion Y is my favorite gym. The downstairs was remodeled a couple of years ago and is always clean. A pool, two gyms, pickle ball equipment, spin bikes, classes, childcare, a recreation room for parties - the options are plentiful. And the camaraderie with staff and other members can't be beat. I hope some other reviewers will put down their phone and actually spend some time taking advantage of all the equipment on their next visit; using one's cell phone to post negative and untrue comments won't make you healthy.
Not a great place to workout! Overwhelming smell of urine. Equipment that would have been old when the first robocop movie came out. How are you supposed to bench with a rusted bar?!?! And I hate waiting on 12 year olds to quit texting their girlfriend so I can use the weight machine! Let the pics speak for themselves! Also when you touch some of the equipment, you will find filth all over your body! See pics!
